The cold mid west winters bring snow and ice. Snow plows, shovels and rock salt bring late nights, back aches and longer melting time.  Pre-wetting and anti-icing surfaces with chloride BEFORE a storm brings shorter melting time, happier drivers, less cost of hard to get rock salt & easier snow plowing.

Pre-wetting: The process of spraying chloride on rock salt or sand before applying it to the roads is called pre-wetting.

Studies show “at 25° F, rock salt takes more than 15 minutes to embed in ice or hard-packed snow”.  Pre-wetting rock salt immediately allows the salt to dig in and hold on wet roads, reducing melting time and the bounce of rock salt.  Pre-wetting sand helps to bond the sand into packed snow and ice to improve traction.

Anti-icing:  The process of spraying chloride on roads BEFORE a storm.

Anti-icing forms a thin layer on the road and prevents snow and ice from bonding to the surface.  Without the bonding of snow, plows can easily remove snow down to the bare pavement.  This application provides the most “bang for your buck” as it can eliminate hard to get rock salt and provides better road surface in less time.
